B.A. (Mackie) MacLean, Jr.

B.A. (Mackie) MacLean, Jr. joined The Diversified Search Companies in 1992, and is part of the management team that repurchased the firm from its public company parent in mid-2004. Previously he was President and Chief Executive Officer of another Philadelphia-based executive search firm from January 1990, and still earlier was a partner with one of the world's largest executive search and management consulting firms, Boyden International, Inc. His 20 plus year search career has encompassed assignments for major investment and commercial banks, national consulting and investment companies, as well as senior level work in manufacturing, technology, health care, and education. Prior to initiating a career in search, Mr. MacLean spent more than two decades in finance. Most recently he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the New York City operations of M&T Bancorp, one of the nation's super regional financial institutions. Previously he spent twenty years with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., an international private bank headquartered in New York City. His tenure at Brown Brothers covered assignments in lending, operations, treasury and foreign exchange management, and consulting; in his last role he was Manager of the firm's International Banking Division. In recent years Mr. MacLean's search activities have included numerous assignments for such major banking institutions as Citizens Bancorp, regional private equity firms such as Meridian Venture Partners, and Board of Director engagements, including Sarbanes-Oxley "financial expert positions" for numerous public companies. He also collaborates with the firm's Education Practice for Head of School searches, and specializes in the functional financial executive roles, including CFO, Treasury and Controller positions. Mr. MacLean is a graduate of Yale (1964), and holds an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University (1971). He and his wife, Charlotte G. MacLean, Ph.D. - a bio-chemistry professor at Philadelphia University - are long-term residents of Haverford, Pennsylvania. They have four grown children. Mr. MacLean has been active in various community affairs and has sat on numerous Boards, including his former roles as Trustee of The Haverford School, The Baldwin School, Taylor Health System and Philadelphia Home Care (the VNA of Philadelphia); and is currently President of the Board of the Academy of Vocal Arts, a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Zoo and a member of the Board of Trustees of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
